The subproject Caatinga Links: Integration of the Restoration Chain Through Research, Extension, and Social Mobilization in the Grota do Angico Natural Monument (Mona) Protected Area (Sergipe) seeks to train social actors in the surroundings of the Grota do Angico Mona PA, through training promoted by technical partners of the PA. The objective is to identify and understand the floristic composition, collection of seeds and production of seedlings in the Caatinga biome, which will be used in the future for the recovery of degraded areas in the area itself, in addition to selecting matrices for other seedlings that will be marketed by the network of local residents who will constitute the LINKS of the Caatinga, contributing to the generation of local income and to the continuity of the project.
The name chosen for the project refers to the “links” of restoring native vegetation in its different aspects: floristic survey; seed collection; seedling production; planting techniques. And in the future, it envisions the opportunity to implement the program to recover 83.82 hectares foreseen in the management plan of the area.
