The subproject Sowing Knowledge in the Caatinga to Strengthen the Production Chains Associated with the Recovery of Biodiversity aims to carry out applied research to reverse the process of degradation, promote the sustainable use of biodiversity, monitor environmental management through remote processes, improve agricultural, forestry and livestock production practices, the collection, processing and storage of native forest seeds and the production of seedlings of priority and endangered native forest species in the APA Chapada do Araripe, with guidelines that help reverse the process of degradation of natural resources and promote food, water and energy security, conserving landscapes, their biodiversity and ecosystem services, strengthening the regional economy and enabling the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Fundação Araripe and its partners ACB and AGRODOIA intend to promote the mobilization, awareness raising, and training of rural multipliers for the dissemination of technologies that will help raise awareness of populations and agents for the implementation of structuring efforts, aiming to revert the problems of conservation of biodiversity, endangered species, and environmental degradation that generate energy and water insecurity in the project’s areas of action and intervention.

The intention is to establish references of good practices of integrated soil and vegetation management in order to conserve landscapes and ecosystem services for the populations of degraded areas (susceptible to desertification), in the Northeast, together with extractive communities, in the period of project, which allow the conservation of biodiversity and overcoming risks to endangered species.
