BRPPN Cerrado

back

The BRppn Cerrado project, developed by SOS Sertão, aims to develop Management Plans for four Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs, the acronym in Portuguese), as well as initiate efforts to create three new RPPNs, one of which is the RPPN Brisa do Indaiá, located in the municipality of Quartel Geral/Minas Gerais, covering 33 hectares.

The methodology used for developing the Management Plans will follow the guidelines for the creation of RPPNs, published by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation in 2015.

The project spans 18 months and aims to create 3 new RPPNs, adding a total of 40 hectares. Additionally, 4 Management Plans will be developed for existing RPPNs, covering 1,995.43 hectares. In total, 7 RPPNs will be addressed, contributing to the protection of over 2,000 hectares in the Cerrado.
